1/6 circa 1853 daguerreotype of a man by Park of Charleston, SC.
On the pad is embossed:
THE STAR
DAGUERRIAN GALLERY
PARK ARTIST
CHARLESTON, S.C.
Professor Albert George Park operated in Charleston from about 1853-1855. Before that he worked in various places, included Alabama and New Jersey, and for Mathew Brady in New York City.
In a nice, full and intact case, with its original seals intact. Layer of dark tarnish and kind of heavy tarnish ring, but I don't see any damage or corrosion. Underside of the glass has a lot of junk stuck to it, should clean off easily.
