1/6 daguerreotype in a hanging wall case (not a half case with missing cover), painting of Mary Chapin Collins (1785-1854).  An old note behind the image (included) gives her name.

Mary Chapin was a daughter of Cornet Noah Chapin, a direct descendent of Deacon Samuel Chapin, one of the earliest settlers of Springfield, Massachusetts. She married Oliver Collins 26 March, 1781. From this marriage they had four sons; Edwin Williams, William Oliver, Noah Chapin and Jabez. Colonel Oliver Collins fought in the War of 1812, and was later a representative in the Connecticut state legislature.

Dag is unsealed and in overall very good antique condition with a couple of small mat abrasions.
