This is a clear glass ambrotype behind mat, with a blank black tin sheet in the case behind the image. The contrast is probably a 6 or 7 out of 10, somewhere between my scan and my cell phone pics.. a darker tin plate or black piece of paper might improve it. The ambro itself is in very good or better antique condition.
