Original, late-1850s, quarter-plate relievo ambrotype of a dog lying on a table. On the side of the case a small piece of a paper is stuck with writing on it... I think it says Wood? Ward? Maybe even DEAD? Dog "Pat".
Ambro is in very good antique condition as shown. The image itself does not appear to be damaged or flaking, but small pieces of the black paint on the back of the image has come off and stuck to the backing paper, and these areas show through to the front. If the black paint on back is flaking, this is not considered damage, and can likely be improved considerably or fixed completely just by adding a piece of black velvet or paper behind the image. If you've dealt with ambrotypes you should know exactly what I'm talking about, but if you have any questions, please ask.
Comes in HALF of its original case. The original mat is inside of the case behind the image.
My listing shows to cell phone pics taken in daylight.
Boxed shipping.
