Quarter-plate, 1850s daguerreotype of three people, a man and two women. Mat is stamped, G.M. Howe, Portland, ME. in the bottom-right corner.
Dag is unsealed and has some tarnish over a lot of the surface, but condition of the plate looks pretty good overall. If I look carefully I think I might see some mat abrasions in a couple of spots near the mat's edge, along the upper-right side and along the bottom. I'm not 100% sure if the abrasions along the bottom are on the glass or the plate... hard to tell. In a full case. The left rail on the pad side is detached, but should glue nicely back in place. The bottom-right corner of the preserver is broken but this is not even noticeable unless you take the dag out of the case.
