Quarter-plate daguerreotype of a Revolutionary War period man standing in front of a painting of ship at sea. He is not identified, but I would say he was probably a sea captain. Image is a bit light, though better at some angles. I can't tell if it's just a light image or if the plate is slightly foggy... but I haven't tried to clean it in any way. There are small mold spiders throughout the image - basically any tan colored spot you see is a mold spider.. but I don't see any scratch or swipes type of damage. The mat is one of those cardboard with thin foil layers on top. Unsealed; full case with separated covers. Boxed & insured PRIORITY.
