On his feet, which are propped up, he is wearing embroidered smoking slippers; he appears to have been warming them next to the great cast iron parlor stove on the right. An unusual and rare, great scene. *** Doubtful that this is a post mortem, though some who have seen it believe it is! Would be an incredible one, if so...
