Original 6th plate tintype in a leather case, behind cover glass. There is a tax stamp on the back and some writing scratched into the surface, but I can't really make out what it says.
The tintype has issues. The emulsion is stable and is not actively flaking, but I carefully tried to remove the cover glass and some of the emulsion came off because it was stuck to the glass, so I stopped and put it back in the case. I assume that if you try to remove the glass more emulsion will come off, so my strong recommendation is that you leave the image exactly as seen and do not try to take it apart.
