Here is a rare offering, a 1/4 panotype of a little boy, holding his hat. Looks like a tintype on the surface, but the emulsion is on a piece of leather, not an iron sheet, like a tintype would be. I have examined this image outside of its case and it's definitely on leather. Image is behind mat and original glass, and housed in a very nice thermoplastic photo case with manufacturer's label inside.

Condition of the image.. there are some light mat abrasions and a few spots.. hopefully my photos capture them. I don't know if these are cleanable, I haven't tried, but even with the spots, this image is nicer than nearly all pannotypes I have seen, which are usually dark, with condition issues, wrinkled emulsion, etc. This looks exactly like a tintype until you examine it.

The case is overall very nice.. the pad is still attached by one corner, but is detaching and needs to be glued back down. The clasp hardware appears to be all there, and not damaged, but I can't get it to click closed.. it might just need a small adjustment.
