Original paper keepsake memorial for a man, whose name appeared to be Porter Loper, "aged 21 as 26 of May", "Taken in AD of 1839".
Porter's profile is cut of of the paper, with what appears to be another piece of black paper behind. At the top is a curl of his hair held by a blue ribbon. The brass mat is circa 1860s. so this piece probably existed on the paper for several decades before somebody came along, perhaps at his death, and reframed this behind an 1860s mat and cover glass.
The dimensions of the frame are approximately 5" x 4", with a hanging loop on top. Piece is in overall very good antique condition. The upper-left corner of the frame is separated - looks like a small nail holding the two pieces fell out. I will try to repair before shipping, but a spot of wood glue might be a quick and easier fix.
Boxed shipping.
