Very rare, maybe one-of-a-kind original photo showing Ben Tibbits, his helper, and several Native Americans in a very busy cattle butchering scene.
Tibbits (correct spelling, given in an interview by Ben himself) was a fairly well known character in Indian Wars history - he rode, as wagon master, with George Armstrong Custer at the 1868 Battle of Washita River, and was later the butcher at the historic Red Cloud Sioux Agency, where this photo was taken.
This large circa 1878 albumen photograph (9" x 7" on a 12" x 10" mount) is in very good or better antique condition with minor wear, mostly to the mount. The back is blank. Sorry about my second photo, came out a bit blurry.. Pic #1, the scan, is accurate. If you are serious about purchasing, please let me know if you'd like to see an improved photo of pic #2 and I will take a new one.
