Tiny portrait miniature in leather traveling case. Have been told this is 1790s to 1830s, but probably closer to c.1800. Octagonal shape with original lens and gilt bezel.
The hinged case is worn, with some losses and some repairable damage - like the popped interior corners which can be glued. The painting is behind glass and is in very good antique condition, having been protected by the case for many years. I'm afraid to try to take this apart and have only examined it through the glass.
Dimensions of the case when CLOSED: Approximately 2 inches by 1.5 inches.
Dimensions of the painting: Approximately 1 1/8 inches by 1 inch.
