Very rare, original CDV portrait of the American painter Archibald Willard, known for his famous work "The Spirit of '76" (aka Yankee Doodle). I have never seen another example of this CDV.
Taken bye the Cleveland, Ohio photographer J.M. Greene. Dimensions are 4" x 2.5" and the image is in very good or better antique condition. There is a very light horizontal wrinkle on the back but it only affects the top layer of paper and has probably been there since production.
Bio (from Wikipedia): Archibald MacNeal Willard (August 22, 1836 – October 11, 1918) was an American painter who was born and raised in Bedford, Ohio. He was the son of Samuel Willard, the pastor of Bedford Baptist Church.[1][2] His most famous work is "The Spirit of '76".
