Rare original cabinet card of New Britain native Duk-Duk dancers with ceremonial costume. New Britain is an island east of New Guinea in the South Pacific. Duk-Duk is a secret society, part of the traditional culture of the Tolai people of the Rabaul area of New Britain.

The label affixed to the back of this image is in German, giving the location as Matupi (New Britain), and was probably taken by German colonists.

Light soiling and some foxing, as shown. Dimensions are approximately 6.5" x 4.25".
