Sixth-plate daguerreotype of a little girl, identified with a note as Harriet H. Whitney age 3 yrs. According to records, Harriet was born in 1840-1841, which if the note is correct, would mean this was taken around 1843-1844.

Harriet was the daughter of Emmeline Stillman Henshaw and Daniel Whitney, who was born in New Hampshire and had family back east, but who became a very important Wisconsin pioneer and businessman (see Wikipedia). I own a second daguerreotype of Harriet with Daniel and Emmeline, all identified in the same handwriting as on this included note.

Daguerreotype is in Robert Cornelius's acorn case and behind original glass and a square rose (?) design mat.

Dag is in a full, complete case, with no repairs. Unsealed, with most of the old seals still behind the image. There is tarnish, but no damage on the plate seen. What may look like a scratch in my camera photo, to the right of the girl's head is NOT a scratch.

Shipping: USPS Express Mail or FedEx Overnight, TBD at time of shipping by seller.
